Encara supporting residents with fall prevention strategies and wellness programs in a purpose built, state of the art, HUR Gym at Palm Lake Care.
Encara is proud to be Palm Lake Care’s Allied Health partner through its care communities in South East Queensland. Palm Lake Care has introduced HUR Australia Gym Systems at three facilities in Queensland, much to our therapists’ delight. The HUR team recently visited Palm Lake Care and met with Encara’s Physiotherapists.

Mohamed, one of Encara’s physiotherapists works at Palm Lake Care Beachmere to support residents on their wellness journey with Encara. Mohamed has 10 years’ experience as a physiotherapist, across a number of different countries, and is a firm supporter of HUR Australia’s gym system.
When speaking to Mohamed about why he loves working in fit for purpose HUR Gyms, he mentioned “HUR has made it really, really easy for us to support those residents in wheelchairs and others who rely on wheelie walkers or have other mobility issues, working on strength. One of the greatest advantages of the HUR gym is its online system that keeps track of our residents’ training regime and exercise progress even when we’re not there on-site overseeing the training”.

HUR cross trainers are helping to improve residents’ coordination and, together with other HUR equipment that focuses more specifically on balance, working on fall prevention. There has been marked improvement in Palm Lake Care Beachmere’s fall statistics. In one particular case, Mohamed said his team worked with a “frequent faller”, targeting coordination and balance issues. In less than three months of training in Palm Lake Care Beachmere’s HUR gym, the resident enjoyed a “significant reduction” in falls – and therefore increased quality of life.
