Meet Vijay, Encara Physiotherapist
Vijay joined the Encara team in 2019 after graduating from Australian Catholic University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy. Vijay is the resident physiotherapist at St Vincent’s Aged Care Carseldine and has championed the transition from ACFI to ANACC since the end of 2022.
We receive feedback regularly from over 280 Residential Aged Care Facilities Encara services across the country. It therefore came as no surprise to receive fantastic feedback recently about the positive impact Vijay has had for residents at St Vincent’s Aged Care Carseldine in Brisbane. Vijay sat down with the team at St Vincent’s to talk about the impactful and evidence based wellness programs she conducts for residents.
“Most of the residents need some form of a physio because they’re not as active as they used to be in their earlier life. There was a resident who had difficulty moving, all he used to do was sit in a chair because he had less confidence to go out of the room and also had an increased fear of falls. But now after receiving Physiotherapy he’s able to mobilise as well. He’s going out for meals and interacting and doing other activities, going to staff meetings.”
“The residents families feel more happy when they see there’s some form of exercises happening, and their mum or dad are really enjoying it. You know, it’s not heavy or painful exercises – not like that. It’s very enjoyable exercises and it’s more suitable to what residents want and the goals they wish to achieve.”
For Vijay and the team at Encara, it’s resident goals first, exercise program second and St Vincent’s Care couldn’t be happier with the outcomes that the residents and clinical team are seeing. Read more about Vijay’s residents’ results here.
We would like to congratulate Vijay and the Encara clinical team for their passion and dedication to the holistic wellbeing of residents across the country, it is a pleasure to have you on the team, improving the lives of residents every day.
